Types of mala chains
<\/strong>There are many different types of mala necklaces - from necklaces of different lengths to bracelets. Each mala has its own special characteristics.<\/span><\/p>

Mala necklaces traditionally consist of 108 beads, plus a guru bead, with tassel or other special pendants. Smaller malas consist of 72 or 54 beads, plus a guru bead. Mala bracelets often consist of 18, 21 or 27 beads.<\/p>

Most mala chains contain intermediate parts, so-called accents, which are added for aesthetic reasons or personal preference.<\/p>

Length of a mala
<\/span>The traditional beads for a mala necklace with 108 beads are either medium (8 mm) or small (6 mm). These are the most popular bead sizes. And although the difference in size is only 2 mm, the overall length of the mala necklace varies quite a bit.<\/span><\/p>

A typical 8 mm-sized mala necklace knotted with a silk thread is about 100-120 cm long. DThe smaller, 6 mm-sized mala necklace,<\/span>is about 60-80 cm long. <\/span>Additional intermediate parts or accents make the mala longer. <\/span><\/p>

<\/span><\/span>Apart from personal preference, there are a few things to consider when thinking about the best pearl size:<\/span><\/p>

If you are using your mala necklace for meditation, the traditional 8mm beads may be beneficial as they feel better in your hands.<\/p>

If you prefer to feel a little less weight when wearing your mala necklace, opt for the 6 mm beads. Most 6 mm malas feel light, even if they are made of gemstones.<\/span><\/p>
